Oaks Christian Scholarship Announcement & More Good News!

In the months since our last update, lots of great work has been done through God’s grace and the generosity of everyone who supports The Mark & Jacob Iskander Foundation!

First we are excited to announce that we have partnered with SNAP (Special Needs Aquatic Program) to sponsor 15 scholarships that will create opportunities for special needs children from underprivileged families to receive specialized swim instructions. The lessons take place at the Yarrow family YMCA in Westlake Village.

We feel truly blessed to support this great effort because of your contributions. We hope you find it in your heart to donate for more good in our community. We thank the SNAP team for allowing us this blessing.

We also recently finalized our Oaks Christian Scholarship recently for the upcoming school year. We are proud to announce the sponsorship of an Oaks Christian scholarship to a student we felt is a true fighter. H. is excited about the opportunity to become a student at Oaks and we can't wait to see her excel and benefit from everything Oaks offers!

Please see a letter from H. below as she prepares to start High school at Oaks this fall.

As the daughter of a mother who abused me and a father who passed away, I’ve had difficult experiences from the start. Growing up, I always felt like I was walking on eggshells around my mother, never knowing when the next outburst or act of violence would occur. Her abuse left me feeling scared, alone, and helpless. As if that weren't enough, my father passed away when I was still young, leaving me without a male influence in my life. His death was sudden and unexpected, and it rocked our family inside out.

Despite all of these challenges, I knew that I couldn't give up on my dreams. I knew that I wanted to create a better life for myself, one that was free from the pain and trauma of my past. So, I made the decision to focus on my education and relationship with God to pursue my dreams.
Going to school wasn't easy. I had to work hard to overcome the emotional scars of my childhood, and learn how to manage the stress and anxiety that came with it. However, I was determined to succeed, and I knew that education was the key to unlocking a better future for myself.

Today, I am proud to say that I have made it through some of the toughest times in my life. I have learned to cope with my past, and most importantly, I turned to God. Although my life has been difficult, I wouldn't change it for the world. It has made me stronger, more resilient, and
more compassionate than I ever thought possible. I am so excited and honored that I got the opportunity to be a student at Oaks christian High School.

Once again, we thank you all for your generous contributions and continued support that make all of these blessings possible.
